Default Custom Text strings with key bindings

why oh why dont we have the ability to make text strings and bind them to key strokes...

like for buying/selling

and for guild recruting...

add into the options pannel a set of 3-5 text boxes bound to asets of keystrokes that we can enter custom text into for easy access to repeatedly announced text (no not spamming, spam filter still applies...)

id like to not have to have a .txt doc on my desktop because its a feature not built in game

aren't these typical for any mmog with in game tradeing systems (trade channel) and an econemy driven by players...

please /sign if you agree with being able to bind text strings to a few key strokes...

Spammers will find a way around any filter..this will just increase the spamming.

unfortunately... the suggestion has nothing to do with the issue you are disagreeing with it for... please read...

it wont just increase the spam... people already use windowed GW with a txt doc open and cut past or use enter and the up arrow to continue saying what they want... even several different lines of text... sellers do it all the time without such a system it would make it easier for them but they alread max on the spam filter without it.. so again it will NOT increase the amount of spam

what the suggestion allows though for example... is for guild recruting... i can say my thing go do something else and still log on the next day and not have to minimize cut past or retype because it is bound to a key...

the suggestion does not promote or prevent spamming or change anything about spamming in generall...

once again though... i like how people shoot a feature that could benefit the comunity because someone might abuse it.. punish the abusers not the entire comunity...

spamming is a seperate issue all together

Sigh... lazyness is a sin...

You just want to save some lines you say a lot...

It's so hard to type in 50 or 100 letters?

Short Answer:

Yes it is hard to type 50-100 letters especially when it is the same thing and you've typed it for the 100th time... while simultaniousely being alert for other conversations you are included in and anything else that is going on around you... multitasking

lol its not about lazyness its about function...

Long Answer:

when you have to use other programs to do normal tasks inside another that makes for a weak performing product... such as using a word pad to store your guild recruiting text or your selling texts when selling multiple things

in order to recruit for guilds you need to announce that you are recruting... and usually answer many questions in the midsts so that any persons that are interested may be properly informed before joining... now with the crazy slew of names and the type of font used in GW as well as how many people love to use spaces between each letter or love to use replacement letters to dupe already taken names... who wants to retype a name over many dif times trying to get the correct one..

using ctr+C is the easiest way to save a SINGLE text string and Ctr+v to paste it but then gets over writen when you give up trying to type someones name and use Ctr+C to copy and Ctr+v to paste in guild invitations...

the line of text you origionaly said is way off in lala land after you have had several conversations going on with other interest parties...

now you have to go out and use another program again to recopy your guild recruitment text or completely retype it over...

which may be fine with you but after about the 5th time of having to application switch or retyping the same line... just because the interface is lacking in what would be considered a BASIC feature aka MACRO's

I don't know maybe its not to many people who help support a large guild with several conversations going on all the time.. or frequently buy and sell items... or try to recruit daily... all the while trying to help out as many people as i can...

when it comes down to it... a simple feature as such saves me a lot of time... and i find it extremely hard to believe their arent others out there that feel the same way I do about it...

glad you can disagree with an idea though simply because you personally believe that im lazy...

the feature benefits everyone including you. what you need to do is ask yourself if this feature was available would you use it and is it practicle...

but then again the "search" feature is practicle yet people are too lazy to use it... ironic isn't it... a feature added to make searching through threads easier for who you would consider the lazy people, yet others are too "lazy" to use it...

thanks though for your offtopic input... troll somewhere else please

Well, something needs to be done.

Player Trading is just a pain in the game and the current system (meaning lack of a system) just encourages spamming in order for a player to get results.

It's insane that you have to trade with someone in order to just look at an item. Additionally describing/understanding the items stats in chat requires a PhD in abstract shorthand...that may differ from person to person! So, yeah, no wonder the OP wants a way to macro text in game.

I dropped a suggestion a while back that I thought would help the situation, it's a different suggestion but motivated for the same reasons as the original poster.

Until we get a barter/trade/auction house function to the game, spamming chat is the only way to sell things. Sure, we hope everyone does it in moderation but it doesn't matter when the whole player base has to use the same method.

Gosh, people can be so negative...

For all of the good it could do recruiters and salespeople(at the moment...go auction house!), I don't see what's wrong with this. It's not like it'd increase spamming, since Guild Wars has the whole spam prevention filter. This might help especially when forming a group for a mission, when you have to frequently repeat directions about what NOT to do and who NOT to pull and what skills to bring and etc. etc. as people are slowly joining the party.

Not something I'd use much, but sounds like a handy feature for those who do alot of trading.

Also, the "spam filter"...yeah, that doesn't really stop people anyway. A decent spammer won't find the "filter" much of an issue. A macro function won't change that for the worse. And if you think people spam because you can just up-arrow enter to spam...well, I see people spamming fully manually. So yeah.

Spammers usually cahge their messages a bit to filter do not work on them, so this would not be used to spam.

Just not to type something in. When you can just type it and then use it later.

Not for the reason you think though. I want this for PVP since not everyone wants to be on vent/TS and having customized text options would be nice.

For the people who think this is "lazy", trying typing 50-100 letters while doing PVP. It's pretty annoying.
